Colorful Steamed Layer Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1/2 cup wheat flour
- 1/2 cup corn flour
- 1 small box coconut milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups water
Preparation
Mix all ingredients in a container until dissolved and lump-free.
Strain the mixture into another container to ensure no lumps.
Divide the mixture into 2 or 3 cups and add desired colors to each.
Heat the steamer and grease the pan with a little oil to prevent sticking.
Once the steamer is hot, add the first color layer and steam for 7 minutes; after cooking, add the second color and steam for another 7 minutes, continuing until the last layer, which should be steamed for 20 minutes.
Allow the kuih lapis to cool completely before cutting.
Tips
The cake will cut more neatly when fully cooled.
