Traditional Malaysian Steamed Layer Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups fresh coconut milk
- 2 cups water
Preparation
Blend all ingredients together until smooth
Strain the mixture to remove any lumps
Divide the strained mixture into two equal parts
Add a pinch of salt to one part to enhance richness
Add rose coloring or syrup to the other part for color
Pour the mixtures into a greased steaming pan layer by layer, steaming each layer for 5 minutes
Steam the final layer for 10 minutes or until set
