Eggless Malaysian Roti Canai
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold water
- 4 cups flour
Preparation
Mix sugar, condensed milk, melted margarine, salt, and cold water until sugar dissolves.
Gradually add flour while kneading to form a smooth dough.
Knead until the dough is smooth.
Shape the dough into balls of desired size, yielding about 8 to 10 pieces.
Lightly apply oil to the balls and let them rest for 3 to 4 hours.
Stretch each dough ball thinly.
Fry in a pan with a small amount of oil until cooked.
Tips
Use only a little oil for frying; it may appear more when the bread is submerged.
The tossing method can be learned from online sources, but simply pulling the dough works well if not skilled.
