Indonesian Tofu Fantasy Snack
Ingredients
- 10 small white tofu, crushed
- 2 eggs
- 2 pieces of vermicelli
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 stalk green onion, sliced fine
- 1 stalk celery, sliced fine
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 packet chicken bouillon powder
Coating
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons tapioca flour
- 2 tablespoons water
- Salt
- Pepper
Preparation
Soften vermicelli with hot water and cut into small pieces, then mix all the tofu ingredients together, stir well, and taste to adjust seasoning.
Heat the steamer, prepare a greased mold, fill with the tofu mixture without overfilling, compact it, and steam for about 15 minutes.
Once cooked, let it cool slightly, remove from the mold, and refrigerate for 30 minutes, which makes about 36 pieces with the mold used.
For the coating, mix tapioca flour with 2 tablespoons water, pepper, and salt, stir well, then combine with beaten eggs and beat until smooth.
Heat oil in a pan, dip each tofu piece in the coating mixture, fry until golden brown, remove, and serve with chili peppers.
Notes
Can use cellophane noodles instead of vermicelli for a softer texture.
If green chili peppers are unavailable, serve with sambal bangkok or another chili sauce.
