Orange Poppy Seed Cake
Ingredients
- 4 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup warm milk (room temperature)
- Zest of 2 oranges
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 packet vanilla
- 1 packet baking powder
- 2.5 cups sifted flour
Preparation
Beat the eggs and sugar at room temperature until frothy and white.
Add the milk, vegetable oil, orange zest, orange juice, poppy seeds, vanilla, baking powder, and flour; mix well on low speed with a mixer without overmixing.
Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven; do not open the oven for the first 20 minutes.
Remove from oven when a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool, then invert onto a plate.
Notes
If the oranges are large, use only one orange for zest and juice.
1 tea cup measures 125 ml, and 1 water cup measures 200 ml.
