Homemade Crusty White Bread
Ingredients
- 1 kg high protein flour
- 1 packet (11 grams) instant yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 600 mL warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or other oil
Preparation
Mix the flour, yeast, and salt evenly.
Add oil and water gradually, stir evenly, then knead for about 10-15 minutes.
After the dough is smooth, place it in a clean oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise at room temperature until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough to release air, divide into two portions, and shape into loaves.
Place on a baking tray, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise again for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 250°C, score the top of the bread, sprinkle with a little flour, bake for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 190°C and bake for another 30 minutes until golden brown.
Cool, slice, and serve.
Tips
This bread can be used for many dishes such as with jam and butter, dipped in soup, or made into garlic bread or French toast.
