Easy Homemade Yeast Bagels
Ingredients
- 130 ml water
- 10 g fresh yeast
- 20 g sugar
- 120 g spelt flour
- 110 g strong flour
- 10 g olive oil
- 10 g butter
For brushing
- 1 egg
Preparation
Mix water and yeast for 5 minutes.
Add sugar, flours, oil, and butter.
Mix with a spatula until well incorporated and let rest for 30 minutes.
Pour dough onto a counter and shape into a cylinder.
Cut into 3 medium pieces and make a hole in the center of each.
Preheat oven to 170°C.
Transfer bagels to a lined baking sheet and let rest for 20 minutes covered with a cloth.
Boil 1000 ml of water, transfer to a dish, and place at the bottom of the oven.
After 20 minutes, brush bagels with egg and sprinkle with seeds.
Place the baking sheet in the middle of the oven above the water dish and bake for 20 minutes at 170°C.
Tips
Avoid biting into the bagels immediately after removing from the oven to prevent burns.
Fill with salmon, spinach, and cream cheese for a delicious option.
