Grilled Beef and Lamb Kofta

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 500 grams ground lamb
  • 1 large grated onion
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon meat spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

Preparation

  1. In a deep bowl, place the beef, lamb, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, meat spice, turmeric, and breadcrumbs.

  2. With your fingertips, mix the meat by rubbing vigorously to get a homogeneous and cohesive kofta.

  3. Cover the bowl and put the kofta in the fridge for an hour or until cooking time.

  4. Preheat the oven grill and get a tray with a metal rack, then grease the rack with a little corn oil.

  5. Shape the kofta into 12 equal and uniform patties and place them on the metal rack.

  6. Put the kofta in the oven about 10 centimeters from the grill and wait 5 to 6 minutes until the surface dries.

  7. Using a wide metal spoon, flip the kofta to the other side and wait a few minutes until fully cooked and golden brown.

  8. Serve the kofta with Arabic bread and hummus.
