Grilled Chicken Teriyaki

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 1/2 chicken breast fillet, sliced lengthwise into two parts
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • a little ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • a little grated ginger

Garnishes

  • toasted sesame seeds for sprinkling
  • cooking oil for grilling

Preparation

  1. Mix all marinade ingredients until well combined and marinate in the refrigerator overnight for about 6-8 hours.

  2. Mix all sauce ingredients together and set aside.

  3. Heat a little cooking oil and grill the chicken until both sides are slightly browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  4. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook until the sauce reduces and coats the chicken.

  5. Cut the chicken to desired size, place on top of white rice, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
