Spicy Fish Kofta with Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sumac
  • 1 teaspoon crushed chili
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 grams fish fillet

Sauce

  • 4 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 3 large finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Coating

  • Flour

Frying oil

  • Corn oil

Garnish

  • Chopped parsley

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, place cumin, paprika, turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, sumac, cardamom, the paste, and salt and pepper; mix to combine the ingredients and set aside

  2. In a food processor, place the fish and one-third of the spice mixture; process until smooth

  3. Shape the kofta into balls about 2 inches in size

  4. In a wide plate, place flour and sprinkle some spices

  5. Roll the kofta in the flour to coat lightly

  6. In a wide skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, fry the kofta until golden, and remove

  7. Add a tablespoon of oil if needed, add garlic and lemon zest, stir for a few seconds, add tomatoes, tomato paste, remaining spices, then add vinegar, and let the sauce simmer

  8. Add the fish kofta to the sauce and leave for a few minutes

  9. Place the kofta on a serving dish, sprinkle with parsley, and serve
