Spicy Fish Kofta with Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sumac
- 1 teaspoon crushed chili
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 500 grams fish fillet
Sauce
- 4 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 3 large finely chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
Coating
- Flour
Frying oil
- Corn oil
Garnish
- Chopped parsley
Preparation
In a bowl, place cumin, paprika, turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, sumac, cardamom, the paste, and salt and pepper; mix to combine the ingredients and set aside
In a food processor, place the fish and one-third of the spice mixture; process until smooth
Shape the kofta into balls about 2 inches in size
In a wide plate, place flour and sprinkle some spices
Roll the kofta in the flour to coat lightly
In a wide skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, fry the kofta until golden, and remove
Add a tablespoon of oil if needed, add garlic and lemon zest, stir for a few seconds, add tomatoes, tomato paste, remaining spices, then add vinegar, and let the sauce simmer
Add the fish kofta to the sauce and leave for a few minutes
Place the kofta on a serving dish, sprinkle with parsley, and serve
