Baked Savory Sweet Tofu
Ingredients
- 1 block tofu, drained and pressed**
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
Preparation
Drain and press tofu using methods listed below
Cut pressed tofu into cubes
Place tofu in a medium sized Tupperware container
Add remaining ingredients, seal container and gently shake to coat tofu in all the ingredients evenly
Place coated tofu on a baking sheet and place in oven for 25 minutes at 400F
Serve as desired
If you’ve never heard of pressing your tofu, it’s a process that helps remove water from the block of tofu you purchase
You can either buy a tofu press that can press the water out for you (best investment of my life), but pre-pressed tofu (usually it is vacuum packed and called super firm tofu) or you can press it the older fashion way by wrapping the tofu block in paper towels or a clean towel, placing it between 2 plates and resting a heavy book over top
Typically you want to try and press the tofu for as much time as you can
You should try to press the tofu for at least an hour if not more to get a really nice chewy texture
It also helps with marinating the tofu better
