Oats and Vegetable Tikki
Ingredients
- 3 medium boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1/2 colored bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- Some fresh coriander
- 2-3 green chilies
- A small piece of ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons roasted and coarsely pounded coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon roasted and coarsely pounded cumin seeds
- Some turmeric powder
- Some chili powder
- Garam masala or kitchen king masala, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1/4 cup oats powder
- Fresh lime juice, to taste
- White sesame seeds, for coating
- Oil or butter, for frying
Preparation
In a bowl, take 3 medium boiled and mashed potatoes.
Add finely chopped 1/2 colored bell pepper, 1/4 cup grated carrot, 1 medium onion finely chopped, some coriander, 2-3 green chilies, a small piece of grated ginger, and 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic.
Add 2 teaspoons roasted and coarsely pounded coriander seeds and 1 teaspoon roasted and coarsely pounded cumin seeds.
Add some turmeric powder, some chili powder, garam masala or kitchen king masala to taste, and salt to taste.
Mix everything well.
Dry roast oats in a pan and grind them in a mixer on pulse mode to make 1/4 cup oats powder, then add it to the mixture.
Combine everything and squeeze in fresh lime juice.
Apply oil on your palms and shape the mixture into small tikkis.
Coat the tikkis with white sesame seeds.
Shallow fry the tikkis in oil or butter on medium heat until golden brown.
Serve with chai and chutney.
Tips
You can use these tikkis to make chaat, burgers, or wraps for a quick meal.
