Puff Pastry Kofta Appetizers
Ingredients
- 1 packet puff pastry squares
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 tablespoons Romano or Parmesan cheese
Filling
- 500 grams ready-made kofta
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup ready-made pizza sauce
Preparation
Remove the puff pastry packet from the freezer and let it thaw for a few minutes, then separate the sheets and place them in a shallow tray to fully thaw.
Preheat the oven to 200°C and prepare shallow baking sheets.
Cut the puff pastry sheets into squares of 1 or 2 inches using a pizza cutter.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
Brush the pastry squares lightly with the egg and milk mixture using a small brush.
Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese over the squares.
Transfer the pastry squares to the baking sheets using a wide knife, leaving one inch of space between each.
Bake the pastry in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown, then allow it to cool completely.
Shape the ready-made kofta into small balls.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the kofta balls to the skillet and cook, stirring gently, until fully cooked and golden brown.
For assembly, use a small wide knife to open a small section of the baked puff pastry squares, spoon a little pizza sauce into each, insert a kofta ball, and secure with a small wooden stick, then serve immediately.
