Fried Cardamom Puff Pastry Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 packet puff pastry squares
  • 1 tablespoon ground cardamom
  • 1 large egg

For frying

  • corn oil

For serving

  • syrup or simple syrup or sherbet

Preparation

  1. Place the egg in a small bowl and bring a brush.

  2. Brush the pastry squares with egg then sprinkle a little ground cardamom on top.

  3. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut each pastry square into 5 strips.

  4. Roll each strip into a small roll and use a toothpick to secure the edge well.

  5. In a skillet, add oil to a height of about 1 inch, heat well, add a few pieces of the pastry rolls to the oil and turn gently until golden.

  6. Remove from oil and immediately place in syrup or sherbet, leave for a few seconds to absorb well, then place in a strainer to remove excess syrup.

  7. Sprinkle more cardamom on the bites and serve warm or at room temperature.
