Fried Cardamom Puff Pastry with Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 packet puff pastry squares
  • 1 tablespoon fine cardamom
  • 1 large egg

For frying

  • Corn oil

For serving

  • Syrup or sugar syrup

Preparation

  1. Place the egg in a small bowl and get a brush.

  2. Brush the pastry squares with the egg and sprinkle with fine cardamom.

  3. Cut each pastry square into 5 strips using a pizza cutter or knife.

  4. Roll each strip into a small roll and secure the edge with a wooden toothpick.

  5. In a frying pan, heat corn oil to a depth of about 1 inch.

  6. Fry a few pieces in the hot oil, turning gently until golden brown.

  7. Remove from oil and immediately dip in syrup or sugar syrup, let it absorb for a few seconds, then drain excess syrup.

  8. Sprinkle with more cardamom and serve warm or at room temperature.
