Fried Yogurt Dough Balls
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon starch
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon fine cardamom
- 3 cups yogurt
For frying
- corn oil
Preparation
In a mixer bowl, place the flour, yeast, starch, sugar, and cardamom, attach the mixing paddle, and blend until combined.
Add the yogurt and mix on medium speed for 5 minutes until a medium-thick dough forms, then transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 24 hours.
Prepare a simple sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water until it thickens.
Place the syrup in a deep plate beside you and in a deep pan, add corn oil to a depth of 2 inches, then heat over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, squeeze portions of dough from a bag or with fingers to form balls, drop them into the oil, and fry until golden brown, turning with a slotted spoon.
Remove the fried balls from the oil and immediately place them in the syrup.
