Brazilian Ham and Cheese Stuffed Bread Rolls
Ingredients
Dough
- All-purpose flour, as needed (about 500g or a little more, add gradually)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 40g fresh yeast
- 1 level tablespoon salt
Filling
- 200g ham
- 200g mozzarella cheese
- 2 tomatoes, diced, peeled and seeded
- Finely chopped onion, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Oregano, to taste
Toppings
- 1 egg yolk, for brushing
- Grated parmesan cheese, for sprinkling
Preparation
Mix the yeast and sugar until liquid
Gradually add the milk, flour, oil, and salt
Knead the dough, adding flour until it no longer sticks to the hands
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and let rest for 30 minutes
Roll out one part of the dough into a rectangle of desired size
Distribute ham slices, mozzarella, tomatoes, salt, onion, and oregano in that order
Repeat with the remaining 2 parts
Roll up like a jelly roll, sealing the sides to prevent filling from leaking
Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese
Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C (350Β°F) for about 25 minutes
