Easy Beer Batter for Frying Vegetables Fruit and Fish
Ingredients
Batter
- 150g all-purpose flour (Type 405)
- a pinch of salt
- 120ml light beer
- 2 large eggs
For frying
- oil for frying (such as sunflower oil, coconut oil, or peanut oil)
- 1kg fruit or parboiled vegetables
Preparation
Mix flour and salt in a bowl
Add beer while stirring
Add eggs and stir until the batter is smooth and lump-free
Let the batter rest for about 20 minutes
Dip sweet or savory items (if necessary, pre-blanched) into the beer batter
Remove and let drain briefly
Carefully place in hot oil and fry at medium temperature
Drain on kitchen paper
Notes
The batter yields about 350ml and is enough for about 1kg of fruit or parboiled vegetables
