Homemade Roti Canai Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 1 kg flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups water

Preparation

  1. Mix milk, sugar, salt, and egg into water until dissolved

  2. Add flour and margarine, then knead to form dough

  3. Rest the dough for 10 minutes

  4. Knead the dough again, rest briefly, and knead once more until smooth and elastic

  5. If dough is too soft, add flour; if too hard, add a little water until soft

  6. Shape dough into balls and brush with margarine

  7. Place in a container, pour a little oil on top, and let rest for 4 hours or more; longer rest makes it softer

Tips

  1. For bread machine use, add liquids first, then flour, and knead 3 to 4 times until elastic

  2. The dough can be frozen for later use
