Mahlep-Infused Cookies

Ingredients

  • 250 g softened butter
  • 1 tea glass lukewarm water
  • 1 tea glass vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon mahlep
  • 1/2 packet baking powder
  • Flour as needed (about 5 water glasses)

Coating

  • Egg white
  • Sesame seeds

Preparation

  1. Knead a dough with all the ingredients to the consistency of an earlobe.

  2. Shape the dough as desired.

  3. Optionally, dip the shapes first in egg white and then in sesame seeds.

  4. Bake in a fan oven at 175 degrees until lightly browned.

Tips

  1. No egg or dairy in the dough itself.

  2. The recipe yields about one and a half trays.

  3. Cookies can be stored in a closed box for up to a month.
