Original Turkish Pastry Poğaça
Ingredients
- 250 grams butter at room temperature
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 2 eggs (one yolk reserved for topping)
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- Half package fresh yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5.5-6 cups flour
Filling
- Any desired filling
Topping
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Preparation
Put all ingredients except flour into a mixing bowl and mix well
Add flour gradually and knead into a soft dough that does not stick to the hands
Without letting it rise, divide the dough into pieces and shape into balls, making 16 pieces
Let the balls rest for 5 minutes to rise
Press the center of each ball, add filling, and close it up
Press the center with hands
Brush with egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius
