Cinnamon Star Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
For the dough
- 200g powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 8 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 150g ground almonds
- 200g ground hazelnuts
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
For the frosting
- Powdered sugar
- Water
- Cinnamon
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients of the dough together in a bowl.
Roll out the dough and cut out star shapes using cookie cutters, choosing your preferred thickness.
Place the star shapes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Let the star shapes dry for 4 hours.
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius (482 degrees Fahrenheit) with heat from both the top and bottom elements.
Bake the star shapes for 3-5 minutes until they are lightly golden.
Prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, water, and a bit of cinnamon to create a smooth but not overly runny consistency.
Once the star shapes have cooled, spread the frosting on top of them.
