Cinnamon Star Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 200g powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 8 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 150g ground almonds
  • 200g ground hazelnuts
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest

For the frosting

  • Powdered sugar
  • Water
  • Cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Mix all the ingredients of the dough together in a bowl.

  2. Roll out the dough and cut out star shapes using cookie cutters, choosing your preferred thickness.

  3. Place the star shapes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  4. Let the star shapes dry for 4 hours.

  5. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius (482 degrees Fahrenheit) with heat from both the top and bottom elements.

  6. Bake the star shapes for 3-5 minutes until they are lightly golden.

  7. Prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, water, and a bit of cinnamon to create a smooth but not overly runny consistency.

  8. Once the star shapes have cooled, spread the frosting on top of them.
