Simple Clown Face Muffins for Kids Birthday
Ingredients
Muffin batter
- 230 g all-purpose flour (Type 405)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 150 g sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 200 g sour cream
- 100 g softened butter
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 50 g grated dark chocolate
Decoration
- 250 g white chocolate
- Assorted colorful chocolate drops
- Assorted colorful sugar pearls (Nonpareils)
- 1 tube dark writing icing
Preparation
Line a 12-cup muffin tin with colorful paper liners or rinse a silicone muffin pan with cold water and preheat the oven to 180°C conventional (160°C fan).
Mix flour, baking powder, and sugar then add eggs, sour cream, and butter; beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until foamy. Divide the batter in half and stir cocoa powder and grated chocolate into one half.
Distribute the chocolate batter into the 12 muffin cups, top with the remaining light batter, and swirl the batters together with a skewer to marble. Bake for about 25 minutes then let cool.
Roughly chop white chocolate and melt two-thirds over a hot water bath. Remove from heat and add the remaining white chocolate, stirring until slowly melted.
Brush the cooled muffins with the liquid white chocolate. Decorate with chocolate drops or nonpareils for clown hair and use chocolate drops and writing icing to create clown faces.
Tip
The white chocolate coating keeps the muffins moist for at least three days when stored airtight.
