- half packet baking soda or 1 teaspoon

First, boil the syrup ingredients together and let it cool.

In a deep bowl, mix sugar, semolina, and baking soda with a spatula.
Add 1 cup water and 2 tablespoons sunflower oil, stirring to form a stiff mixture.
Spread half of the mixture into the prepared tray and sprinkle cinnamon over it using a sieve, optionally adding crushed walnuts.
Spread the remaining mixture on top, brush the surface with molasses using an egg brush, and arrange peanuts in a row.
Cut into parallelogram shapes and bake at 180 degrees Celsius until the top is dark, about 35 minutes.
Remove from the oven and slowly pour the lukewarm syrup over the cake, then let it rest for about 1 hour.
