Baked Turkish Cheese Pastry
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 egg white
- 1 packet yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 50g soft butter
- 6 cups flour (add gradually)
Filling
- white cheese
- parsley
For greasing
- vegetable oil (about 1/4 cup)
For topping
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon milk
Preparation
Knead a lightly sticky dough and let it rise.
Divide the risen dough into 12 equal pieces.
Place the pieces in a tray, grease with oil, and let them rest for 10 minutes.
For each piece, flatten it to the size of a dessert plate by hand, add cheese and parsley filling on one side, and fold it like a roll inward.
After shaping all pieces, stretch each into a cylinder shape, form the desired shape, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Let them rise for 20 minutes, brush with the egg yolk and milk mixture, and bake in a preheated 190°C oven until golden brown.
Remove from the oven, cover with a wet kitchen towel, let rest for 10 minutes, then serve.
