Caramelized Apple Topping for Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, diced small
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsp corn starch
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Mix the water, corn starch, vanilla, and almond extract. Set aside.

  2. Heat sauce pot over medium high heat.

  3. Cook apples for 3 min while stirring occasionally.

  4. Add in maple syrup.

  5. Cook for 2 min or until bubbling a lot.

  6. Stir the corn starch mix and pour into the pot.

  7. Stir it all together, add cinnamon, and heat for 2-3 min or until thickened.

  8. Thin with more water if desired.

  1. Pour over pancakes, waffles, crepes, or oatmeal to enjoy.
