Spicy and Sour Tuna Stew

Ingredients

  • Canned tuna in oil
  • 2 red bird's eye chilies, optional
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Mushroom stock, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sweet soy sauce
  • Olive oil, for sautéing

Preparation

  1. Open the tuna can and set aside in a bowl

  2. Heat olive oil in a pan, then sauté garlic, shallots, and chilies until fragrant

  3. Add water as needed (approximately 1/2 cup), bring to a boil, then add salt, pepper, mushroom stock, oyster sauce, chili sauce, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, and sweet soy sauce; stir, taste, and adjust seasoning

  4. Add the tuna, stir, and let it simmer briefly until the liquid reduces slightly, then remove from heat and serve
