Steamed Indonesian Cheese Sticks

Ingredients

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp powdered milk
  • 5 tbsp Blue Band Cake and Cookie
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 80g grated cheddar cheese
  • 50g grated edam cheese
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

For brushing

  • 1 egg yolk

Preparation

  1. Mix the Blue Band Cake and Cookie and egg yolk in a large bowl until even.

  2. Add powdered milk, powdered sugar, flour, grated cheddar cheese, grated edam cheese, and cornstarch then stir until dough forms.

  3. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin or glass bottle and shape as desired.

  4. Heat a steamer pot without water, fitted with a strainer, and grease the strainer with Blue Band.

  5. Brush the shaped dough with egg yolk and sprinkle with grated cheese on top.

  6. Place the Kaastengels dough on the strainer in the pot, cover, and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes.

  7. Remove and let cool for a moment.

Notes

  1. You can use all cheddar cheese instead of a mix.
