Easy Brazilian Cheese and Ham Pinwheels

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 egg yolk

Filling

  • about 300g sliced ham
  • 400g shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation

  1. Mix yeast, sugar, milk, eggs, oil, and flour until a homogeneous dough forms that comes away from the hands; knead the dough for about 20 to 30 minutes for better rising

  2. Place in a bowl covered with plastic wrap in a warm place and let rest for 1 hour

  3. Cut the ham slices in half and set aside

Assembly

  1. After 1 hour, divide the dough into four parts

  2. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean, smooth surface

  3. Roll out one piece of dough to form a rectangle using a rolling pin

  4. Cut small strips of dough and place ham and cheese in the center of each strip

  5. Fold the ends of each roll to seal and prevent the cheese from escaping

  6. Place on a greased and floured baking sheet and brush with egg yolk

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C (350Β°F) until golden brown
