Baked Spaghetti with Meat and Cheese
Ingredients
- 500 grams spaghetti
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped basil
- 1/2 cup romano or parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 1 cup cottage cheese or ricotta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 500 grams ground meat
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 crushed garlic cloves
- 4 large peeled and finely chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon meat spices
- 1/4 cup liquid cream
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
Preparation
Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente, then drain
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onion and garlic until softened
Add ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon
Stir in chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, black pepper, and meat spices; simmer until sauce thickens
In a separate bowl, mix eggs, parsley, basil, romano or parmesan cheese, butter, cream cheese, and cottage cheese or ricotta until well combined
Combine the cooked spaghetti with the cheese mixture and half of the meat sauce
Transfer to a baking dish, top with the remaining meat sauce and shredded mozzarella
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly
Add liquid cream and stir well before serving for extra creaminess
