Lokum Cake with Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup sugar plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup milk (room temperature)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2.5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 vanilla
  • 1 baking powder
  • 2.5 cups flour

Soaking liquid

  • 1.25 cups milk

Chocolate sauce

  • 2.5 cups milk
  • 3.5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (level)
  • 40 grams chocolate

Preparation

  1. Beat the eggs and sugar well.

  2. Add the remaining ingredients one by one, mixing well, and finally add the flour and baking powder, then mix everything to make the cake batter.

  3. Pour the batter into a greased large baking dish.

  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25-30 minutes.

  5. Remove from the oven and, once slightly cooled, pour cold milk over the cake to soak it.

  6. While the cake is resting, prepare the chocolate sauce by putting all sauce ingredients in a pot, adding the chocolate last, and cooking on the stove while stirring until the chocolate melts.

  7. Pour the sauce over the cake, let it rest and cool, and it is ready.
