Ajvar Inspired Grilled Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 1kg chicken wings, washed and drained
- 3 heaped tbsp ajvar
- 3 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp evoo (extra virgin olive oil)
- 1 tbsp chicken seasoning (I use Dunn's River, available from many supermarkets)
- 1 tsp hot chilli sauce (e.g., Encona Hot Chilli Sauce, Mr Naga, or another of your choice)
- 1 tsp garlic granules or powder
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Preparation
Mix all of the ingredients except the wings together in a bowl.
Add the wings and leave to marinate overnight or for at least 30 minutes, preferably longer.
Arrange the wings on a baking tray with the wrong side up and grill for 15 to 20 minutes on each side at 180°C (fan oven), 200°C, 400°F, or gas mark 6. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
Ajvar is a condiment made from roasted bell peppers, sometimes with aubergines added, and it has a delicious smoky taste that can be used in various dishes.
