Fried Lemon Chicken Indonesian Style
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast fillets
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 shallots, minced
- 1/2 onion, sliced lengthwise
- Juice of 1 lemon, strained
- 1/2 lemon, sliced crosswise
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour, dissolved
- Toasted sesame seeds, as needed
- Oil, as needed
Wet batter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Water, as needed
Dry batter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Mix all wet batter ingredients until a thick batter forms then dip chicken pieces and coat in dry batter mixture
Fry the coated chicken in hot oil until golden brown then remove and drain
Heat oil in a pan and add minced garlic and shallots until browned then add onion and lemon slices
Add water, lemon juice, honey, and oyster sauce then bring to a boil and add tapioca flour slurry while stirring
Once the sauce thickens, add the fried chicken, stir well, and remove from heat
Serve the lemon chicken
