Tornado Cake with Ganache and Cheese Topping
Ingredients
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup fine sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup condensed milk
- 1 cup oil or melted margarine
- 1.5 cups flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
- a pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup hot water
Ganache
- 500g milk chocolate
- 1 cup dairy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon margarine
Cheese topping
- 250g cheese
- 3 tablespoons condensed milk
- 1/2 cup non-dairy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup fresh milk
Preparation
Combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla essence in a bowl and stir until well mixed.
Add the condensed milk and melted margarine, and mix thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until well combined.
Add the hot water and stir until smooth and no lumps remain.
Pour the batter into a small container and steam for 30 minutes or until fully cooked.
Ganache
Combine the milk chocolate, dairy whipping cream, and margarine, and melt using a double boiler.
Stir until the mixture is thick and smooth.
Cool it briefly in the refrigerator.
Cheese topping
Place the cheese and condensed milk in a mixer and whisk until well combined.
Add the cold non-dairy whipping cream and whisk until fluffy.
Once fluffy, add the fresh milk and whisk again.
Spread the cheese topping evenly over the steamed cake.
Pour the cooled ganache over the cheese layer and sprinkle with desired toppings.
