Malaysian Marinated Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 500 grams beef
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar

Sauce

  • garlic
  • bird's eye chili
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • shallots
  • bird's eye chili
  • lime juice
  • cilantro

Preparation

  1. Pound the garlic, black pepper, and salt finely for the marinade.

  2. Mix the pounded ingredients with the beef, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar, then marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  3. For the sauce, pound the garlic and bird's eye chili.

  4. Slice the shallots and bird's eye chili thinly.

  5. Chop the cilantro finely.

  6. Combine the sauce ingredients including the pounded and sliced components, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and lime juice.

  7. Heat a skillet or wok over high heat with oil.

  8. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until cooked through.

  9. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook until it thickens and coats the beef.

  10. Serve hot.
