Malaysian Red Cooked Chicken

Ingredients

  • Chicken
  • Red onion (for grinding)
  • Garlic (for grinding)
  • Ginger (for grinding)
  • Dried chili (for grinding)
  • Tamarind (a little)
  • Sugar
  • Salt

Spice paste

  • Ground mixture of red onion, garlic, ginger, and dried chili

Preparation

  1. Mix chicken with the ground spice paste, add a little tamarind, sugar, and salt.

  2. Heat a small amount of cooking oil in a pan.

  3. Add the mixture and cook together until the sauce is dry and the chicken is done, similar to making rendang.
