Spicy Shrimp Sambal with Petai

Ingredients

  • 350 g shrimp, peeled with tails on and back slit
  • Lime juice, to taste
  • 1 bunch petai beans, peeled and halved
  • Oil, as needed
  • Water, as needed
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 tomato, sliced

Ground spices

  • Red curly chilies, to taste
  • Bird's eye chilies, to taste
  • 5 shallots
  • 3 garlic cloves

Preparation

  1. Heat oil in a pan, sauté ground spices until fragrant, add petai and shrimp, stir until color changes.

  2. Add a little water, season with salt, sugar, and sliced tomato, then stir.

  3. Wait until spices are absorbed and almost dry, then serve with warm rice.
