Egg Tart in Rice Cooker
Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 egg
- a pinch of salt
Filling
- 1/2 cup condensed milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- optional: a little egg yellow food coloring
Preparation
Mix all crust ingredients until a soft dough forms that does not stick to hands
Shape the dough according to your rice cooker
Mix the filling ingredients until smooth and lump-free
Pour the filling over the shaped crust in the rice cooker
Place on a gas stove and set to low flame
Cook for 30 to 40 minutes until the crust is crispy
After cooking, let it cool slightly, loosen the edges and remove from the pot
Tips
Line the pot with a tray or cover it, but no water is needed as this is not steaming
The crust should not stick if prepared correctly, and the tart becomes more delicious with longer cooking
