Vegan Tofu Bacon Delight

Ingredients

  • 450 g firm tofu, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for baking sheet
  • 1.5 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

  1. Slice the tofu thinly if not already sliced

  2. In a bowl, mix together onion powder, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, and 1 tbsp vegetable oil to create a marinade

  3. Coat the tofu slices evenly with the marinade and let them sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb flavors

  4. Preheat the oven to 200°C

  5. Grease a baking sheet with the remaining 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  6. Arrange the marinated tofu slices on the baking sheet in a single layer

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown
