Indonesian Spicy Tofu Gejrot
Ingredients
- 10 pieces of tofu (best with sumedang tofu)
- 200 ml water
- 50 g palm sugar
- 2 tbsp tamarind juice
- 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- A pinch of salt
Pounded mixture
- 6 shallots
- 2 cloves garlic
- 10 green bird's eye chilies
Preparation
Coarsely pound the shallots, garlic, and green bird's eye chilies.
Fry the tofu until golden brown, drain, and cut into pieces.
Cook the sauce ingredients until the sugar dissolves, then let it cool slightly. Add the pounded mixture, stir well, and adjust the taste.
Pour the sauce over the cut tofu and serve.

Adjust quantities to personal preference.
