Spiced Chickpea and Avocado Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 large avocado
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon mild chili powder
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Bread slices

Preparation

  1. Mash the avocado with lime, salt, and pepper.

  2. Rinse and pat dry the chickpeas.

  3. Toss the chickpeas with olive oil and roast at 180°C/360°F for 20 minutes until crunchy.

  4. Remove the chickpeas, add the spices, and return to the oven for a few more minutes to absorb flavor.

  5. Toast the bread slices.

  6. Spread the mashed avocado on the toast, top with the spiced chickpeas, and serve with a squeeze of lime.
