Cheesy Turkish Fried Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup white cheese
  • 8-10 sprigs parsley
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • Salt (adjust based on cheese saltiness)

For frying

  • Oil

Preparation

  1. In a suitable mixing bowl, add milk, egg, and salt and mix.

  2. Add cheese, parsley, flour, cornmeal, and baking powder and knead into a soft dough that does not stick to hands.

  3. Roll out the dough on a work surface to about 0.5 cm thick.

  4. Cut into thin strips or squares with a knife and fry in hot oil until both sides are nicely browned.

Notes

  1. This recipe takes no more than 15 minutes to prepare and is ideal for weekend breakfasts enjoyed by both children and adults.
