Spicy Indonesian Baby Squid Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 125g baby squid
  • 9 curly red chilies
  • 5 bird's eye chilies
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 6 shallots
  • 1 large red tomato
  • 4 green chilies
  • 3-5 tablespoons cooking oil

Optional additions

  • Petai beans (optional)

Preparation

  1. Soak the baby squid for about 5 minutes in lukewarm water.

  2. Grind the bird's eye chilies and red chilies.

  3. Slice the shallots and garlic thinly.

  4. Cut the tomato into small cubes.

  5. Heat the cooking oil and sauté the shallots and garlic.

  6. Once slightly dry, add the ground chilies and sauté until fragrant.

  7. Add the green chilies and tomato, and sauté until the tomato is slightly crushed.

  8. Add the baby squid and sauté until dry.

Tips

  1. You can add petai beans if desired for extra flavor.
