Fried Indonesian Rice Cake
Ingredients
- 500 grams white glutinous rice
- grated coconut from half a semi-mature coconut
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Soak the glutinous rice for 2 hours, then drain.
Steam the rice for 20 minutes, then remove and add the grated coconut and salt, mixing well.
Steam again until fully cooked, then remove.
While still hot, pound the rice until smooth.
Spread the mixture evenly in a tray lined with plastic, compact it, and cool completely before cutting.
The jadah can be eaten as is, grilled, or fried in hot oil until golden brown, then remove and serve.
