Halloween Mummy Churros
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1.5 tbsp butter
- 1.5 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil, for frying
Chocolate coating
- White chocolate, melted
- Candy eyes
Preparation
In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and butter, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Remove from heat, add flour, and stir vigorously until a dough ball forms and pulls away from the pan’s sides. Let it cool briefly.
Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep-frying pan.
Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag with a star tip, then pipe strips onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
Fry churro until golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side, then drain on paper towels.
Finish by dipping churro in melted white chocolate and drizzling it to create mummy-like bandages.
Place two candy eyes on each churro to complete the mummy’s face and let the chocolate set.
Tips
If you can’t find Candy Eyes: Flatten a mini marshmallow as much as possible, then use a hollow tool of your preferred size (like a straw) to cut it into a circle. Add a dot in the center using black icing or chocolate; you’ve got homemade fluffy edible eyes!
