Easy Baklava Without Rolling Pin

Ingredients

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • Thin slice of lemon

Syrup

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 cups water

Dough

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tea cup yogurt
  • 1 tea cup vegetable oil
  • Half packet baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Half tea cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon grape vinegar
  • 2.5 cups flour

For opening dough

  • Cornstarch

Filling

  • Walnuts

Preparation

  1. Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, and lemon slice in a pot, bring to a boil, and let it cool completely

  2. Mix all dough ingredients together to form a soft dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes

  3. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them without using a rolling pin, dusting with cornstarch to prevent sticking

  4. Fill each shaped dough piece with crushed walnuts

  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C until golden brown

  6. Once baked, pour the cooled syrup over the hot dessert and let it absorb

  1. This method simplifies traditional baklava by avoiding the need for a rolling pin and individual sheet rolling
