Turkish Cheese-Filled Pastry Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 egg white (reserve yolk for brushing)
  • slightly less than 1 cup vegetable oil
  • half a cube of fresh yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • flour as needed (approximately 4.5 cups, do not make too stiff)

Filling

  • cheese
  • parsley

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm milk until the yeast is fully incorporated.

  2. Add the mixture to a kneading bowl, then include water, oil, and egg white.

  3. Add salt and gradually incorporate flour while kneading to form a soft dough.

  4. Allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes.

  5. Divide the dough into pieces and fill each with cheese and parsley, then shape them.

  6. Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  7. Bake at 200 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
