Classic 3-Ingredient Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 10 tablespoons sugar
- 10 tablespoons all-purpose flour, sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking powder (optional)
Preparation
Beat eggs in a mixer until creamy
Gradually add sugar while beating
Gradually add the sifted flour while beating
If using, add baking powder and gently fold in with a whisk
Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan
Bake in a preheated oven at 350Β°F (180Β°C) for 25 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Notes
This batter rises significantly even without baking powder so it is optional
