Homemade Vegan Tofu Bacon

Ingredients

  • 450 g firm tofu, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil + 2 tbsp for baking sheet
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

  1. Mix the marinade by combining soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, onion powder, and nutritional yeast in a bowl

  2. Coat the thinly sliced tofu with the marinade and let it marinate for 15-30 minutes

  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C and grease a baking sheet with the additional 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

  4. Arrange the tofu slices on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy
