Classic Brazilian Pineapple Upside-Down Cake
Ingredients
Batter
- 2 cups sugar
- 100g margarine or butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Caramel syrup
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 pineapple
Preparation
Caramel syrup
Melt the sugar in a round baking dish to make caramel.
Remove from heat.
Slice the pineapple and arrange over the caramel.
Set aside.
Batter
In the bowl of a mixer, combine sugar, egg yolks, and butter; mix.
Add the milk and beat until a homogeneous cream forms, then turn off the mixer.
Add the flour and beat again.
Turn off the mixer and add the egg whites, folding to combine with the other ingredients.
Add the baking powder.
Pour the batter into the reserved baking dish.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C until golden.
Unmold while hot to prevent sticking.
Tips
Substitute pineapple with banana or apple.
